Froholy weekm the Pastor’s Desk

With palms let us welcome the Lord as he comes, with songs and hymns let us run to meet him,

as we offer him our joyful worship and sing: Blessed be the Lord!

[Benedictus Antiphon, Lauds for Palm Sunday, The Liturgy of the Hours]

On this Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion, we enter into the most sacred eight days of our faith. These days are filled with both the drama of history as recorded in the Sacred Scriptures as well as an invitation for each of us to be drawn ever deeper into living the Paschal Mystery of Jesus’ Passion, Death and Resurrection.

My simple request for each of you is this: come! Set aside the time to join in the beautiful liturgies that will fill these next eight days. Most especially, I want to encourage you to join in all of the sacred liturgies of the Triduum – that 72 hour period from Holy Thursday’s Mass of the Lord’s Supper to Paschal Vespers on Easter Sunday evening. As the above antiphon says, “… let us run to meet him as we offer joyful worship….”

With my brother priests, I offer you the assurance of our prayers for a Blessed Holy Week!

Love,

Father Tom
