FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

For the past 54 years, the Fourth Sunday of Easter has been the “World Day of Prayer for Vocations.” The Gospels of the Good Shepherd from the tenth chapter of the Gospel according the Saint John frame this day of prayer as we recognize the ministry of shepherds in our day – priests, spouses and parents.

In his Message for this day, Pope Francis again reminds us of the call to Mission, that is, being sent to proclaim the Good News of Christ even as we live that reality in faith each day.

Our Holy Father also calls us to contemplation and prayer for vocations in solemn exposition and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament! (Remember, we offer Solemn Exposition Monday through Friday following the 7:00 a.m. Mass until 3:00 p.m.)

By our witness we assist young people not only to be disciples of Christ, but also to seek out their vocation from the Lord.

Pray that our young people will readily pray with the psalmist, “Here I am Lord, I come to do your will” (Psalm 40:2).

Love, Father Tom
