FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Next Saturday and Sunday will be exciting days for our Cathedral Parish as well as the Diocese of St. Augustine. On Saturday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral, Bishop Estévez will ordain two men to the priesthood – Wilson Colmenares and Briggs Hurley. Then, on Sunday, June 18 – the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ – the newly-ordained Father Briggs will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Cathedral. Since this is the day of our annual Eucharistic Procession, this will take place following the Mass and Father-elect Briggs will be a part of our statios at the courtyard of the Sisters of St. Joseph, the gazebo in the Plaza de La Constitución and finally in the Cathedral to conclude our Solemn Eucharistic Procession. Our Holy Father has granted Father-elect Briggs the favor that, at each of his Masses of Thanksgiving, a plenary indulgence will be available to faithful Catholics who participate at the Mass. (P.N. – The indulgence may also be applied to the deceased.) Additionally, a person will need to sacramentally confess their sins, receive Holy Communion and say the Lord’s Prayer, “Hail, Mary” and the “Glory be” for the intentions of Pope Francis. These will be exciting and blessed days for us. Let us give praise and glory to God for these blessings.

Love, Father Tom
