Today we welcome our Diocese’s bishop emeritus, the Most Rev. Victor Galeone, who will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation at the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Bishop Vic comes to the Diocese each spring to assist Bishop Estévez in celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation in many parishes of our growing local Church. Welcome, Bishop Vic! It’s nice to have you back among us in the Cathedral Parish!

Next weekend we will begin an arrangement with Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine (the green trolleys) to provide a shuttle service from the parking lot of Cathedral Parish School to the Cathedral for the late afternoon Masses on Saturdays and Sundays. [Please see the announcement elsewhere in the bulletin for full details.] Our hope is that this will assist you, our parishioners, in being able to find easier parking and then get to the Cathedral for Mass. We are committed to trying this arrangement for through the end of the year. At that time, we will evaluate what’s happening and see if it will continue. So, please make use of this free service!

Finally, although it’s been talked about for a while now, if you have not heard, Bishop Estévez has granted me a sabbatical for the months of September through November this year. A sabbatical is a “time of rest and renewal” which a priest is granted every ten or so years. [I’ve been ordained over 30 and this will be my first one!] A sabbatical is not a vacation, but it is a time to re-charge one’s physical, mental and spiritual health. I’ll be attending the program for Clergy Continuing Education at the North American College in Rome and am looking forward to it immensely! More to come on this as we go through the summer months!

Love,

Father Tom
