From the Pastor’s Desk

“Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts.”     (1 Peter 3:15)

The first words of our second reading this Lord’s Day from the First Letter of Saint Peter are an admonition to each of us a Christians to ensure we allow the holiness of Christ to rule our hearts. In that way, we also seek to live holy lives which is one of our responsibilities as people who have been baptized into Christ’s death and resurrection.

We know that there are many distractions in our world today that will move us away from being good disciples of Christ our Lord. Those distractions include almost every media source that is available, but even people, political positions and ideologies will tempt us to away from the Gospel of Christ. So often we can be deceived into thinking I can take this “position” and remain faithful to Christ’s and the Church’s doctrine. However, we must be very careful. And so, the more we can make our hearts holy by allowing the Holy One, Jesus Christ, to dwell within us, so we can, all the more, please God.

As the Easter season is in its final weeks leading to Pentecost, accept Saint Peter’s exhortation and have Christ’s holiness in your hearts.

Love,

Father Tom
