From the Pastor’s Desk

Pornography has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry and has become a terrible affliction in families, relationships and all of society. The more easily porn has become available, its effects only broaden and deepen.

Across our Diocese, today is Safe Haven Sunday. We are asking parents and all adults to commit in fighting the terrible affliction of pornography particularly by creating safe havens in all our homes. You can learn a lot more at www.covenanteyes.com and purchasing at that site (1) Equipped: Smart Catholic Parenting in a Sexualized Culture and/or  (2) Confident: Helping Parents Navigate Online Exposure. Each book costs $2.00. The website has very helpful resources to assist those who are addicted to pornography and how to support loved ones who do.

Also, take the time to read the U.S. Bishops Pastoral Letter “Create In Me a Clean Heart: A Pastoral response to Pornography” published in November 2015.  It is readily available for download at the USCCB website.

Thank you for standing up to sin in our culture and committing all homes in our parish to be safe havens.

Love,

Father Tom
