From the Pastor’s Desk

At the 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass, our Bishop, Felipe J. Estévez, will confer the Sacrament of Confirmation upon several of our young adults who have been preparing to receive the “Sacrament of the Spirit.” This sacrament is one of the “Sacraments of Initiation,” thus completing for them their initiation into the Life of Christ and His Church.

Confirmation is God’s pronouncement and gift of sanctifying grace that a person is now to be a witness of Divine Love in our world. Such a witness can be difficult and challenging in today’s society and culture which do nt support traditional religious values, let alone virtues that are at the heart of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His victory over sin and death. Thus, the outpouring of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear (Reverential Awe) of the Lord – upon those to be confirmed is a grace that God freely bestows for each to be that courageous witness.

Pray for those who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in our parish. And continue to pray for those who received the Sacrament at the Easter Vigil that they, with us, will be witness of the living and faithful God.

Love,

Father Tom
