From the Pastor’s Desk

O Emmanuel, our King and Lawgiver,

the Hope of the nations and Savior:

Come and save us, O Lord our God!

On this Lord’s Day, the Fourth Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve Eve, this is the last of the “O Antiphons” – the antiphons that accompany the chanting of Mary’s Magnificat at Vespers the final days of Advent. This one sings of Emmanuel, God-with-us, and effectively brings the season of patience and waiting to its conclusion. The Church proclaims with confidence that in Christ, born of the Virgin Mary, God is with us – now and always.

And so, on behalf of the clergy and staff of the Cathedral Parish, I wish to one and all the blessings of Christ’s Birth. May these days of Christmas Joy lift your hearts on high and may the Peace that Christ only can give be yours in abundance for the good of all.

A Blessed and Merry Christmas!

Love,

Father Tom
