From the Pastor’s Desk

November is a time to give thanks, so allow me to express appreciation to some groups for great work and ministry from the past several weeks:

  • The Committee and all the volunteers who helped to put together the 5th Annual Saint Benedict’s Blues Fest. While we await a full report of proceeds, there’s a sense that it was great success due to the large crowds that gathered on Friday night and through the day and night on Saturday. Great job!
  • To the members of the Tolomato Cemetery Preservation Association (TCPA) for their assistance in preparing our parish’s historic cemetery for the All Souls Day Procession. Despite a low turn-out, those who participated were pleased with the service and the lessons they learned from the TCPA volunteers who gave tours after the prayer service. Thanks, as well, to our Cathedral Ushers who came out to guide us on the processional route to the Cemetery.
  • To our choir, sacristans and all others who assisted with the Memorial Mass for Archbishop Hurley on October 30. Bishop Estevez and the other bishops of the State of Florida were very happy with the celebration on the 50th Anniversary of Archbishop Hurley’s death.

As we get closer to our nation’s Day of Thanksgiving on November 23, I hope that all of us find those people who go out of their way to assist us and help build our community and say word of thanks to them.

Love,

Father Tom
