As summer draws to a close and regular choir rehearsals start up once more, I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all parishioners, young and old, who love to sing to strongly consider joining one of the Cathedral parish’s choirs. Is God calling you from the big choir (the Assembly of believers in the pews) to the special groups who lead worship from the Chancel (Cantor/songleader) and the Choir loft?
Opportunities for your consideration:
*Cathedral Choir (Sunday, 11:00 a.m. Mass) – Principal Cathedral Choir with Diocesan responsibilities
*Cathedral Choir (Sunday, 9:00 a.m. Mass)
*Cathedral Choir (Sunday, 5:00 p.m. Mass) Cathedral Women’s Schola (unaccompanied chant and polyphony in Latin and English, once a month Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Mass; contact Shannon McKay, cathedralmusic2@gmail.com)
**Children’s Choir (every other Sunday, 9:00 a.m. Mass) Cantors at all Masses – flexible scheduling Instrumentalists — strings, horns, reeds *The three Cathedral Choirs are desperately looking to fill vacant seats in the tenor and bass sections. **The Children’s Choir is open to girls and boys ages 8 through 18.
