Please be aware that homeowners, renters and business owners in Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties may apply for federal disaster assistance for uninsured and underinsured damages and losses resulting from Hurricane Matthew.

For survivors in these declared counties, there are three ways to apply for assistance:

·         Online at disasterassistance.gov

·         On the FEMA Mobile App, or by

·         Calling 800-621-3362 (FEMA) between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.  Applicants who use 711 or Video Relay Service may also call 800-621-3362.  People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and a TTY my call 800-462-7585. Multilingual operators are available.

—  Structural Integrity Warning – St. Johns County Building Department is actively completing evaluations of damaged structures. Yellow “UNSAFE” stickers have been placed on buildings that have been deemed structurally unsafe for re-entry.

—  St. Johns County Damage Assessment Teams continue their initial assessments of structures in impacted areas. A total 2,396 impacted structures have been identified.  Teams are continuing to canvas the impacted areas of St. Johns County.

—  St. Johns County Road and Bridge crews continue clearing roads and drainage ditches throughout the County.

—  St. Johns County residents are urged to stay vigilant throughout the recovery process when hiring contractors to repair home or business damage due to Hurricane Matthew. To report fraud, please call the State Attorney General’s Fraud Hotline at 1.866.966.7226.

—  St. Johns County is making public space available this week at the Main Branch Library, 1960 North Ponce de Leon Blvd., St. Augustine, to assist businesses in need of a temporary virtual office location.Business representatives needing space this week to conduct private meetings may contact Main Library Assistant Branch Manager Amy Ackerman at 904.827.6940.

 

DEBRIS/HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTION SCHEDULE
  • Curbside Collection of Storm Debris:
    • Debris contractors are collecting storm-related debris throughout St. Johns County.
    • Storm Debris must be piled at the curb.
    • Do not bag, barrel, or mix with household waste.
    • Furniture will be collected by the contractors, not your regular household garbage collection.
    • Please separate debris into piles; construction debris, white goods, furniture and yard trash.
    • Debris contractors will make multiple passes until clean-up is complete.
