HOSPITAL

There has been a change of policy at Flagler Hospital regarding the release of patient information. This is due to new privacy rules that have been put in place. The hospital will no longer give us your name and room number when we visit the hospital unless you request that information be released.

We typically send Extraordinary Ministers of Communion, Priests and Deacons to visit and bring Holy Communion. We ask that you not only call or email us at the office when you know you are going to be confined in the hospital, but also when asked by the hospital on admission, state that you are a Catholic and that you would like to see a Chaplain. The only way that you are put on the published hospital visitation list is to do this. And this is the only way that our ministers can find you.

Also, as we have always asked, please call or email the office and we will add you to our prayer list. We are very concerned that we are missing you in our visitation and pastoral care. May God bless you and keep you well.

Please contact the rectory if you know someone who would like a visit from a priest, deacon or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at (904) 824-2806 or by email at cathparish@gmail.com

HOMEBOUND

Church norms permit only those who are “ordinary” ministers of the Eucharist (bishops, priests, and deacons) and those who have been commissioned and blessed as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to take the Blessed Sacrament to those who are unable to get to Mass because of infirmity, age or disability. Anyone who takes the Blessed Sacrament outside a church must have the express permission of the pastor of the parish.

If you or someone you know desires to receive Holy Communion and is unable to get to Mass because of sickness, age or a disability, please contact the rectory at cathparish@gmail.com or (904) 824-2806.

NURSING HOMES

The Cathedral Parish serves the nursing homes of Bayview and The Ponce Therapy Care Center. We have regular Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion visit both facilities each week. On the first Tuesday of the month, Mass is celebrated at Bayview, and on the 4th Tuesday of the month at The Ponce Therapy Care Center.

If you know someone at one of these facilities what would like to receive Holy Communion or any of the other sacraments, please contact the rectory at cathparish@gmail.com or (904) 824-2806.
