From the Pastor’s Desk

Now that we are in the final weeks of Lent, if you have not already done so, I hope you will receive the graces of the Sacrament of Penance. By confessing your sins and receiving sacramental absolution, you allow the generous and life-renewing mercy of God to come into your life.

The Parish’s Penance Service for Lent will be held on Monday, March 22 at 6:00 p.m. Confessions are also heard on Saturday’s following the 7:00 a.m. Mass and on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. If these times are inconvenient for you, then please call the Rectory and ask to make an appointment with one of the parish priests.

It is always helpful to make a good examination of conscience before you come to confessions. You can find plenty of them available on the worldwide web. By placing the words “Examination of Conscience” in any browser (Google, Yahoo et.al.) you will find plenty of thought-provoking things that you may never have considered to be a sin. If you have the MyParish app an examination of conscience is available there. And there are even apps available to download that will help you prepare for and know the process of confession.

Saint Faustina Kowalska, who revealed so much of God’s desire to shower us with His Mercy, wrote of God in her diary: “Your duty is to trust entirely in My Mercy; My duty is to give you all that you need. I make Myself dependent on your trust: if your trust is great, then My generosity will be without limit.”

Love,

Fr. Tom
